The Los Angeles Auto Show is gaining in importance to automakers every year, and Porsche is taking advantage of the 2007 show’s environmentally friendly theme to introduce their Cayenne Hybrid in America. In addition to this special Cayenne on the Porsche stand will be another electric-powered Porsche and the world’s first zero-emissions vehicle, the Lohner-Porsche Voiturette from 1900. Debuting at the 1900 Paris World Fair, the Voiturette was the 24-year-old Ferdinand Porsche’s masterpiece, motivated to its 28-36 mph top speed by one internal-pole motor on each front wheel hub and a 44-cell, 80-volt lead-acid battery. This car is on loan from the Technical Museum in Vienna, Austria, and the L.A. Auto Show will mark the car’s first auto show display outside of Europe.
Visit the L.A. Auto Show Web site for tickets and more information.
