Porsche Cars’ Porsche Design branch, which was founded by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, has long been known for creating clean and stylish products, the first being a black chronograph watch. To commemorate that anniversary, 777 special Caymans will be infused with Porsche Design cues, the results being the Cayman S “Porsche Design Edition 1.”
Mechanically identical to the standard 295hp, 3.4-liter boxer six Cayman S, the Edition 1 is available exclusively in black paint with matte black door, hood, roof and hatch stripes, recalling the first chronograph’s color scheme; other special items include 19-inch 911 Turbo wheels over a 10mm lowered chassis, all-red taillamps, a black leather and Alcantara interior, a numbered dash insignia, and gauges whose look and font recall that watch.
Modern design lovers will thrill to the Porsche Design extras that are included with the Edition 1, like the special case fitted with sunglasses, a pocket knife, key ring, writing instrument and a chronograph. Pricing is yet to be announced, but expect to pay a fair penny more than the Cayman S’s $59,100.
